Portable printers are a new segment in the market yet giant companies such as Canon and HP have joined the battlefield earlier. Canon has released a mobile printer dubbed the TR150 while HP rolled out a portable printer called the Deskjet 3755. Both of them offer convenient on-the-go printing but I am interested to reveal the ins and outs of the HP DeskJet 3755.

This product boasts a space-efficient design that makes it easy to carry. When you stay, the petite AIO fits almost anywhere. While the Canon PIXMA TR150 is a print-only device, the DeskJet 3755 offers all-in-one versatility. This color printer works well for documents and photos despite it being a portable device. With the support of wireless connectivity, it offers the easy setup for computers and handhelds.

HP DeskJet 3755 Design

Designed as a portable printer, the DeskJet 3755 has all you need for easy transport. It slips into the case effortlessly, thanks to petite and streamlines design. From the appearance, the manufacturer obviously puts special attention to the style. The combination of round-edge trapezoid shape and blue and white cover accentuates an elegant look.

HP DeskJet 3755 Design

At 15.9 inches by 7 inches by 5.6 inches (WDH) and weighing 5.14 pounds, this model is heavier than its competitor. Canon’s TR150 weighs only 4.5 pounds and a few inches smaller in size and girth than HP’s portable printer. Having that said, the DeskJet 3755 is a great space-saver and it can be an ideal choice for outside printing.

The highly portable printer looks modest with basic bodily features. I can find a simple control panel on the top of the device, providing a few functional buttons and a 7-segment LCD display for easier setup and operation control.

Print, Copy, Scan Almost Anywhere

The DeskJet 3755 boasts all-in-one performance to meet your high mobility. It supports print, copy, and scan functionality nearly anywhere, keeps your business running even though you are outside. Small size has nothing to do with capable specs for each functionality.

As with HP’s inkjet printers, this four-ink AIO is supported by HP thermal inkjet technology for dependable output quality. With maximum resolution up to 4800 x 1200 dpi, it promises impeccable details for photos and documents.

HP DeskJet 3755 Print, Copy, Scan Almost Anywhere

The portable printer comes with a capable copier that supports up to 300 x 300 dpi with maximum copies up to 9 pages. Despite the limited feature it has, this device lets you copy documents nearly anywhere and anytime. A scanner is also embedded inside this portable printer, providing you with easy and fast scanning. Thanks to 600 dpi optical resolution for legible scan files.

HP DeskJet 3755 Print Speed

HP rates the DeskJet 3755 at 8 pages per minute for mono and 5.5 pages per minute. This print speed is slightly slower than Canon’s TR150 that is rated at 9 pages per minute for black. The color page rating is similar for both products. When it comes to photos, it takes around 65 seconds to produce a 4- by 6-inch photo.

Generally speaking, this rate is not impressive if it cannot be said as tardy. But in this case, I am going to say this speed rating is competitive. I know a few home printers from a similar company that prints slower than this portable device, so 8 pages per minute is forgivable.

Dependable Media Handling

DeskJet 3755 Media Handling

When its rival uses a foldable rear tray that serves as a lid, the DeskJet 3755 has a home printer’s typical tray. The retractable input feeder holds up to 60 sheets, about average for a home environment printer and slightly higher than its competitor. It also features a front output tray that holds up to 25 sheets.

This printer accepts a wide array of media sizes that range from 3 inches by 5 inches up to 8.5 inches by 14 inches aside from legal, letter, and envelopes. Supported media types include cards, plain paper, photo paper, and matte paper. Especially for photo printing, the manufacturer recommends HP photo paper for the optimum print results.

Much like family printers, the recommended monthly volume is up to 200 pages per month with a monthly duty cycle at 1000 pages. This print volume is sufficient for urgent printing during a business trip or occasional tasks.

Excellent Output Quality

Behind its small size, HP’s DeskJet 3755 has the ability to churn out excellent output quality. It prints well for text, graphic, and photo without noticeable flaws. On a test with a text document, I did not find misshaped characters even for the smallest fonts. The text were highly legible with rich and crisp black color.

The next test with graphics, minor issues such as hairlines and streaking did appear. Having that said, I could enjoy the charts and graphics churned out by this AIO. I believe it works well for your Excel charts and presentation slides as well.

Much to my surprise, this printer showed amazing performance for photos. It produced snapshots with accurate and vibrant colors. I did enjoy the impressive details, though it was not as impeccable as photo-centric printers. Despite its slow print speed, high-quality output makes it worth the wait.

HP DeskJet 3755 Ink Cartridges

Most inkjet printers come with high running cost and the DeskJet 3755 is no exception as it costs more than 5 cents per page. Luckily, you can sign up for HP Instant Ink subscription service to save pretty pennies on ink. Not only can you enjoy 2 months of free ink, but you can also cut the print cost for less than 5 cents per page.

HP 65 Ink Cartridge

The four-ink printer uses two standard cartridges consisting of black and tri-color (CMY) cartridges that print up to 120 pages for black and 100 pages for color. For replacement cartridge, you can opt for HP 65 standard or HP 65 XL that offers more page yield. Using genuine ink and compatible cartridges is much recommended for the optimum print results.

Mobile Printing and Connectivity

Set up a wired or wireless connection and print from any device that you want. For a wired connection, this printer features a High-Speed USB 2.0 that enables reliable connection with your computer. It also supports wireless printing, thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity that promotes a stable and worry-free connection.

Aside from using computers, the DeskJet 3755 lets you print through mobile devices. Thanks to wireless direct printing and mobile printing connectivity such as Apple AirPrint and HP ePrint. Printing from your handheld is easier, whether you are at home, in the office, or on the go.

To improve your printing experience right out of the box, each package comes with HP Photo Creations and HP Update as included software. The first mentioned allows you to enhance photos before printing such as color correction and enhancement.

  • No borderless printing

While its rival supports borderless printing, you should be satisfied with 0.5 inch print margin for the bottom and 0.12 print margins for left, right, and top.
