The American printer manufacturer Hewlett-Packard (HP) has marketed copious products under the DeskJet line. Focusing on families and home offices, most models including the HP DeskJet 2755 simplify your way to everyday printing.

The DeskJet 2755 is a multipurpose printer that offers print, copy, and scan versatility. It prints well to complete schoolwork or creative projects, though it can be rather sluggish. Both documents and photos can be easily tackled, thanks to capable print specifications. Overall, the wireless AIO is a family-friendly printer that works well for everyone.

HP DeskJet 2755 Design and Layout

The DeskJet 2000 series has an exclusive trapezoid design and the 2755 is no exception. With round edges, the overall layout looks sleek and nice to complement your home office or study room. Despite it is constructed from 20 percent recycled plastic, the body covers are not flimsy.

HP DeskJet 2755 Design

Measuring 16.7 inches by 12 inches by 6.1 inches (WDH) and weighing 7.54 pounds, this model is similar to its peer, HP DeskJet 2543 and is about average in its class. The small footprint takes a little space, so choosing a spot for this AIO will not be overwhelming.

On top of the device, I cannot find an automatic document feeder. Alternatively, it features a flatbed scanner, which means user intervention is required for copying and scanning. A modest control panel is embedded on its top-left, consisting of functional buttons and a monochrome LCD display to help set up printer operation and monitor status.

All Performance in One

The DeskJet 2755 is a versatile inkjet printer that boasts all-in-one performance. Not only does it allow you to print, but it also supports scan and copy functionalities. Each function is supported by reliable specs for the best result.

To ensure high-quality output, this machine uses HP thermal inkjet technology with maximum resolution up to 1200 x 1200 rendered dpi. When combined with compatible paper and genuine ink, this model promises excellent print results with rich black and vibrant colors. Despite it not supporting borderless printing, you can print family snapshots or small photos effortlessly.

All Performance in One

The AIO also features a CIS scanner with maximum resolution up to 1200 x 1200 dpi. With a flatbed scanner that supports up to 8.5 inches by 11.69 inches, you are required to flip original pages manually. Copy functionality is well delivered with maximum resolution up to 300 x 300 dpi. Supported by auto-enlarge settings, the copier can handle up to 9 copies at one time.

Sluggish Print Speed

A major drawback from this printer is sluggish print speed. HP rates the DeskJet 2755 at 7.5 pages per minute for black and 5.5 pages per minute for color. This speed rating, however, is slightly faster than its peer, the DeskJet 2543 that prints up to 7 pages per minute for black and 4 pages per minute for color.

This model is obviously not the slowest, but tardy speed makes it less attractive among its competitors. On a test with a 4- by 6-inch photo, it took around 65 seconds to print. This speed is even slower than my expectation at around 40 seconds. I come to the conclusion that the DeskJet 2755 is a printer that takes much of your time.

Low Input Paper Capacity

Low Input Paper Capacity

It is not unusual that home printers feature low input paper capacity and the DeskJet 2755 holds this tradition. This printer is equipped with a single input tray that extends from the back of the device. The rear tray loads up to 60 sheets and the front tray holds up to 25 sheets for finished documents.

A couple of media sizes are supported ranging from 3 x 5 inches up to 8.5 x 14 inches aside from letter, legal, and envelopes. It allows you to print on various media types such as plain paper, brochure paper, and photo paper. The recommended media weight is around 20 lb.

When it comes to print volume, this family AIO is rated at 50 to 100 pages per month with a monthly duty cycle up to 1000 pages. This volume is relatively low even for everyday printing tasks, with around 3 pages per day.

Good Overall Quality

The DeskJet 2755 may be slow but it offers dependable output quality. Tested with a rich text document, it came out with well-shaped characters and highly legible text even to the small fonts. The print result has rich and crisp black color which is more than sufficient for everyday documents or paperwork.

Good Overall Quality

Another test with graphics was well-performed by this family-friendly AIO. I found minor streaking and banding but it was quite forgivable. Hairlines and minor flaws were visible but it did not ruin the whole appearance of the graphics. It still worked well for Excel charts and PPT slideshows.

Photo printing is not a highlight of this printer but it manages to deliver acceptable result. The output quality is good enough for family photos, scrapbooks, or other creative projects. Overall, I did enjoy the vibrant colors and nice details that came with the pictures.

Compatible Ink Cartridges

HP 67 Ink Cartridge

Compatible cartridges and genuine inks take a major contribution in delivering high-quality output. The manufacturer combines dye-based and pigment-based ink to produce vibrant and rich colors. This model uses HP 67 Black and Tri-color cartridges that print up to 120 pages and 100 pages.

Replacement cartridges are available in High Yield and Extra High Yield options for efficient printing. HP 67 High Yield produces up to 240 pages and 200 pages for black and color. For the highest yield cartridge, it prints up to 400 pages and 330 pages for black and color.

Good news, the company offers HP Instant Ink subscription service that comes with a lot of advantages. Signing up for this service allows you to order ink automatically and it will be delivered to your address. The best part is that you can enjoy 2 months of free ink. Additionally, you can save print cost and pay less than 5 cents per page.

HP DeskJet 2755 Connectivity Options

HP DeskJet 2755 Connectivity Options

Most printers in this price range offer a limited interface and so does the DeskJet 2755. For wired connection, this product is supported by Hi-Speed USB 2.0 to establish a reliable connection with your computer. For easier connection, this wireless printer is equipped with dual-band self-healing Wi-Fi. Unluckily, I cannot find any port for storage devices.

The entry-level printer comes with limited support for mobile printing capability including Mopria, Apple AirPrint, and HP Smart App. The smart app allows you to connect the printer to iOS or Android smartphones and tablets.

The DeskJet 2755 is a new definition of easy printing from home. This wireless inkjet AIO has useful features to upgrade your everyday printing experience. Apart from the convenience, it has a couple of shortcomings that should be kept in mind.

HP DeskJet 2755 Pros

  • Small footprint

Small footprints take less space. If you have a small space issue, this printer will not give additional problems. Thanks to the compact design and about average dimensions that allow the device to fit almost anywhere in your home office.

  • Good print output

As a home printer, the DeskJet 2755 prints well for documents and photos. It prints text with rich and crisp black color, more than acceptable for kid’s homework or paperwork. This product also works nicely for graphics and photos, allowing you to have fun with family photos, snapshots, and creative printing.

  • Easy mobile setup

The printer supports HP Smart app that enables easy connection with smartphone and tablet. HP’s best mobile print app is easy to set up on your mobile with step-by-step guide. Once the setup is finished, you can print and scan virtually from almost anywhere.

HP DeskJet 2755 Cons

  • Sluggish performance

Sluggish performance is a serious drawback from the DeskJet 2755. Rated at 7.5 pages per minute, it requires you to spend a lot more time to wait for the documents. The speed gets worse for photo printing as it takes more than a minute to finish a 4 x 6 inch photo.

  • Low paper input capacity

Equipped with a typical rear-tray, this printer holds no more than 60 sheets. This input capacity is sufficient for a small family with low print volume. But in case of home offices, chances are that you need to reload the paper frequently.

  • Lack of memory-device port

Direct printing is not supported on this machine. The lack of a memory-device port prevents you from printing directly from storage devices.

Conclusion

As a family-friendly printer, the DeskJet 2755 is dependable to promote simple printing for everyday tasks. The support to print, copy, and scan documents as well as photos, this model is more than acceptable for family and home offices. Good output quality and ease-of-use features are the key to simplified printing.

This printer is worth-buying for a family or home office with low capacity or occasional printing. It can be a good partner to complete your small projects, paperwork, or creative activity with photos. But if you need a printer for serious projects, the DeskJet 2755 may be unsuitable as sluggish print speed and low input capacity can be a big problem in the future.
