The HP DeskJet 2722 comes to make your everyday printing, scanning and copying a lot easier. Built-in wireless capabilities promise simple setup while compact design lets you find a good spot without extra effort.

Meticulously designed for the home environment, this All-in-One printer supports smart applications that allow you to print and share documents right from the smartphone. And, enjoy the sharp text and vibrant colors with its capable print technology.

Trapezoid Design, Sleek Look

Most HP printers are characterized by trapezoid design and the DeskJet 2722 holds this tradition. The wireless inkjet comes with rounded-edges trapezoid casing that accentuate its sleek appearance. Pairing white and pastel color, it can be a beautiful addition to your room.

HP DeskJet 2722 Design

This model measures 9.8 inches (H) by 21.5 inches (W) by 17.1 inches and weighs around 7.5 pounds, which means it is a lightweight printer with small footprints. It can easily fit into your small space, be it on your desk or workstation.

The device houses a flatbed scanner on its top. It is also equipped with a simple control panel that allows easier setup and navigation. I don’t find many options on this panel as it only features an icon LCD display and 7 buttons, including Power, Cancel, Resume, and Wi-Fi.

HP offers two color options: Light Sage and Indigo. Depending on stock availability, you can choose a printer with your favorite color. Not only can it help handle your everyday printing, but it can also boost your mood.

Overall, I like the appearance of this printer. It looks so fancy that it can be suitable for a home environment. With a lightweight design, moving the device doesn’t require much effort.

Versatile Printer for Everyday Needs

The DeskJet 2722 offers the best value for everyday printing, copying, and scanning needs. The All-in-One printer is equipped with sophisticated technology to ensure high quality output, either for kid’s homework, paperwork, or creative projects.

Beginning with the printer, this model uses HP thermal inkjet technology. This is the best print technology from HP that allows you to enjoy sharp text and vibrant color. Paired with high print resolution up to 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi, it works well to handle everyday printing tasks.

For the best result, the manufacturer suggests you to select HP photo paper when printing from the computer. The shortage I found is that it doesn’t support borderless printing.

Versatile Printer for Everyday Needs

The copier is also dependable to tackle your everyday document. The DeskJet 2722 supports up to 9 maximum copies with auto-enlarge as its standard feature. Whether you need to copy monochrome or color documents, this product can handle it.

Moving to the scanner, it features a flatbed scanner that supports maximum size up to 8 x 11 inches. It lets you scan and save to popular file formats, including JPEG, TIFF, PNG, PDF, and BMP. For this price range, I don’t expect automatic document feeder for duplex scanning.

Acceptable Speed for Home Use

At entry level, this printer offers acceptable print speed. HP rates it at 7.5 pages per minute for black and 5.5 pages per minute for color. It can print 4×6 color photos in 65 seconds, which is quite acceptable for a home printer. Despite it sounds tardy, this speed rating is on par with its competitors.

What do I think about this? Home printers are not demanded to be fast, even though it can be a big plus if they can work faster. So, 7.5 ppm is tolerable as work efficiency is not a priority for home environment printers.

Average Input Capacity

Average Input Capacity

Much like standard home printers, this model is equipped with a rear input tray. Pull the tray upward and load paper into it before printing. The input tray is able to hold up to 60 sheets, which is sufficient for everyday printing tasks.

And, don’t forget the front output tray can be extended to ensure your prints are neat and tidy. The output tray is able to handle 25 sheets of plain paper or 5 envelopes. Whenever not in use, the tray can be easily folded to save space.

When it comes to media size and type, the DeskJet 2722 supports a few paper sizes, including A4, B5, Letter, and Legal. You can also print on a variety of media types, such as envelope, cards, photo paper, plain paper, and even labels.

If you are a photo enthusiast, you can benefit from its photo printing capability. Whether you need to print snapshots for scrapbooks, family photos, or creative projects, this is a printer you can count on.

Good Quality for Home Environment

What do you expect from a home printer? Personally, I don’t set a high standard for home printer but it is good if I can find a machine that can meet my standard. And I confirm that the DeskJet 2722 is a nice printer to help you with daily printing.

Good Quality for Home Environment

Despite its affordable price, it works well to deliver crisp text with true black color. The characters are legible and well-shaped, even though some weird spacing is slightly noticeable. Overall, this printer is sufficient to handle your kid’s homework or paperwork.

This printer also does a quite good job for gradients and fill. It shows minor streaking and banding but the overall result is fine. Considering its price, this kind of drawback is tolerable. The DeskJet 2722 can be a nice machine to print your handouts with charts and graphics.

On another test with photo, I appreciate how this printer delivers good print quality. Although it is not even close to a consumer-grade photo printer, it’s acceptable to print snapshots for your scrapbooks. Its print quality somewhat reminds of Polaroid Hi-Print pocket printer.

HP DeskJet 2722 Ink Cartridges

The inkjet printer uses a standard system for its consumables. It requires two cartridges consisting of one black cartridge and one tri-color cartridge. With a tri-color system, this means you have to replace the cartridge once a color runs out.

HP DeskJet 2722 Ink Cartridges

Dye-based ink type is used to deliver clear and vibrant color, even though it is quite standard in most entry-level inkjets. The DeskJet 2722 is compatible with HP 67 cartridge that comes packed with each package.

For replacement, you can opt to purchase HP 67 standard that produces up to 120 and 100 prints for black and color consecutively. Or, you may also get HP 67XL High Yield that prints up to 240 and 200 pages for black and color. Remember that cartridge choice may affect your running cost.

Available Connectivity

As an entry-level printer for home environment, this model doesn’t have much to offer. Its standard connectivity includes USB, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. With such connectivity options, you can easily pair the printer with compatible devices, be it laptop, PC, or mobile devices.

Available Connectivity

It also supports mobile printing capability with Apple AirPrint and Mopria. In addition to mobile printing, the printer is compatible with HP Smart App that allows you to print document, make copies, and get clear scanning right from your smartphone.

HP DeskJet 2722 Pros

  • Good-looking Design

This is a good reason to opt for the DeskJet 2722. A printer that offers good-looking design can make a new statement in your home office or study room. Besides, it is quite lightweight so moving this device doesn’t need much effort.

  • Easy to Set Up

No need to spend time setting up the printer before each use. It comes with simple setup and configuration so you can start printing right away.

HP DeskJet 2722 Cons

  • No Borderless Printing

Inability to print borderless makes this device less attractive. That means you have to find another printer to do the task.

  • Somewhat Tardy

Despite the DeskJet 2722 is not the slowest, its performance is a bit tardy. If you are in a hurry, this printer won’t be a good companion. But if you have much time for daily tasks, this minus is forgivable.

  • Small LCD Display

Featuring a small LCD display makes it rather hard to see what it shows. As the display is positioned at the top, you might need to stand up to view it. Troublesome, isn’t it?

Conclusion

Choosing a home printer can be a bit tricky as you have to understand your everyday printing needs. The HP DeskJet 2722 is designed to meet your requirements for a simple yet capable printer to handle your daily tasks, ranging from homework, school project, to presentation handouts.

Is this printer worth buying? If you are looking for a low-cost printer that offers a full set of features, the DeskJet 2722 can be a great option to consider. But if you wish to have a printer with faster performance, this model doesn’t seem ideal for you.
