The Epson WorkForce WF-2830 is an entry-level office printer that wraps a variety of versatile features in a robust and compact design. Created with efficiency in mind, it boasts two-sided printing with an automatic document feeder as well as wireless connectivity for easier printing.
Featuring individual ink cartridges means you don’t need to replace the whole cartridges once a color runs out. With a 1.4-inch LCD screen, setting up and configuring the printer is easier than before. And, you can upgrade your printing experience with a bunch of software.
Small Footprints and Lightweight
The WF-2830 comes with a similar design to its sibling, the WF-2850. Black plastic casing, rounded edges, and front panel make these two printers alike. The only difference is on the LCD screen, in which this model houses a smaller 1.4-inch LCD screen than its counterpart that features a 2.4-inch LCD.
Measuring 8.6 inches (H) by 14.8 inches (W) by 11.8 inches (D) and weighing around 11.5 pounds, this model has small footprints. This means finding a spot for the device won’t be a big deal, especially if you have a tiny home office like mine.
The depth increases to 22.8 inches while printing but it doesn’t matter. Besides space-saving, it is pretty lightweight so moving the printer does not require extra effort.
As with its sibling, its overall appearance looks sleek and clean. It features an automatic document feeder that can be pulled in and out. Under the ADF, there is a flatbed scanner that lets you scan documents simply by lifting the upper lid.
A front panel allows easier setup and navigation, thanks to a 1.4-inch LCD screen and functional buttons. The tilt-able front panel also houses a power button, numerical keys, arrow keys, as well as supporting buttons for a better print operation.
All-in-One Printer for All Purposes
Epson’s WF-2830 is created with all-in-one functionality to tackle your office documents, ranging from printing to scanning, to copying, and faxing. This compact printer promises professional quality outputs with reliable specs for each function.
Featuring MicroPiezo inkjet technology, it delivers excellent print results for proposals, reports, and text-rich documents. The printer boasts high print resolution up to 5760 x 1440 optimized dpi for better clarity and sharpness with minimum graininess.
It is also supported by a capable scanner that pairs color flatbed and CIS line sensor for a better result. With 1200 dpi optical resolution, it ensures a clear digital document. The flatbed is able to hold up to 8.5 x 11.7 inches document with various features like scan to PDF and scan to email.
When it comes to copy functionality, this product offers a standard copier that lets you handle mono and color documents. With maximum copy size up to 8.5 x 14 inches, it boasts a variety of features, such as 2-sided copy, density adjustment, text enhancement and many more.
In the event you need to fax clients, the WF-2830 has everything you need. With monochrome and color settings, it lets you send fax as fast as 3 seconds per page.
Epson WorkForce WF-2830 Print Speed
Rolled out as an entry-level printer, I don’t expect it to be too high for its print speed. Based on the marketing material, this model offers efficient and fast speed. However, I don’t think it is a fast printer, especially for business purposes.
Epson rates this product at 10 pages per minute and 5 pages per minute for monochrome and color consecutively. That means the printer takes around 6 seconds to complete one black page. Unfortunately, I am not really impressed with this speed.
But with many considerations, this tardy speed is tolerable. Epson’s WF-2830 is a little faster than its rival the HP DeskJet 2722 that produces up to 7.5 pages per minute for black and 5.5 pages per minute for color.
Acceptable Input Capacity
This printer is designed for home office with low print capacity. Why did I say so? The only reason is that the product comes with a 100-sheet input cassette. Without the ability to upgrade, this input capacity is sufficient for daily printing and less suitable for a busy office or workgroup.
The input cassette is housed under the output tray. Simply pull the cassette to open and load your paper. It can hold up to 100 sheets of plain paper or 20 sheets of photo paper. But if you plan to print 2-sided documents, simply load the ADF that is able to hold up to 30 sheets of plain paper.
The WorkForce WF-2830 supports a variety of paper sizes and types. You can load media as small as 3.5 x 5 inches up to 8 x 10 inches aside from other popular sizes, such as legal, letter, A4, and envelope. And, this printer supports borderless sizes from 3.5 x 5 inches up to A4.
About media types, it supports plain paper, matte paper, and glossy paper for photo printing. You can also load transfer paper as well as adhesive paper.
Epson WorkForce WF-2830 Output Quality
Despite its affordable price, the WF-2830 manages to deliver professional output quality. It works well to tackle business documents like proposals, reports, invoices, and even marketing materials loaded with graphics and charts.
Thanks to dependable print technology that allows this to happen. On a test with text, this printer produces sharp text with intense black color. With high legibility and well-shaped characters, it gives everything you need for a professional business document.
On another test, I worked with graphics and charts. And, the result was just as satisfying as the first test. It delivered smooth printing for thin lines and I didn’t see noticeable or disturbing strokes. Fills and gradients could be easily handled by this model.
When it came to my favorite test with snapshots, the WF-2830 didn’t let me down. Thanks to high print resolution and Claria ink that allows the printer to deliver vibrant and accurate colors with impressive details.
Claria Ink for Better Clarity
To enhance efficiency, this Epson printer features four individual cartridges. That means you only need to replace the cartridge that runs out instead of the whole parts. Featuring Claria ink (CMYK), you can enjoy fast-drying and brilliant photos as well as sharp text.
It uses 212 cartridge that comes with each package so you can start printing right away. In case your cartridge runs out, replace it with compatible cartridges from Epson. The manufacturer offers two choices: 212 standard and 212XL high capacity.
Connectivity and Myriad Software
The wireless AIO printer supports wired and wireless connectivity. You can opt to establish a reliable and stable connection with the computer through USB. But it also supports wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct for mobile devices.

To bring your printing experience to the next level, this device offers a variety of mobile printing solutions. It is compatible with Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, and Mopria. You can also benefit from Epson Connect that includes Creative Print App, Epson Print and Scan App, and Epson iPrint.
This printer also highlights voice-activated functionality. With this feature, you can enjoy easier printing only with voice command. Of course, this feature offers a huge help for multitasking.
Epson WorkForce WF-2830 Pros and Cons

Epson WorkForce WF-2830 Cons

If you have a fast work pace, this printer might not be an ideal choice. Even though it is not the slowest in its class, tardy print speed makes it less attractive.
- Low Input Capacity
This printer has to struggle with paper input capacity for it only supports up to 100 sheets. Whether your print volume is higher, you might need to spend extra effort to work with it.

Unlike its sibling, the WF-2830 features a 1.4-inch LCD screen. With this size, it’s rather hard to see what it displays.
Final Thoughts

What do I think about this model? It is an ideal choice for a home office with low printing volume. But if you work at a fast pace or have a medium to high print volume, you might need to get other references.
