Most new printers are an upgrade to their predecessors. The Canon PIXMA TS5320 inkjet printer, for instance, becomes the successor to the TS5120 which was released back in 2018. As with most Canon printers, the TS5320 delivers ease-of-use features though it is relatively slow in printing performance. Addressed to home or small office, this printer is suitable for occasional to moderate printing.
Despite all the drawbacks it delivers to consumers, the TS5320 works well for text and graphics. It also supports photo printing, allowing you to enjoy excellent photo print quality right from home. But it’s too early to judge this printing machine. Scroll through the following review and absorb anything you need to know about this printer.
Colorful Layout, Compact Design
The PIXMA TS5320 has something that really impresses me, the colorful layout. This printer comes in four different colors—white, black, pink, and green. Personally, I really appreciate how Canon tries to meet consumers’ needs. Colorful printers allow users to personalize their choice in order to upgrade their workstations or desks. It also helps improve their moods while working.
Not only does it offer an attractive layout, but it also boasts a compact design. Measuring by 5.9 inches high by 16.8 inches wide by 12.5 inches deep and weighing 13.8 pounds, this printer is pretty similar to its predecessor. In addition, it offers a robust build with a textured lower cover so this device won’t slip easily when moved.
At the top of the TS5320, you can find a scanning bed as well as an input tray. It looks clean and sleek as the control panel is concentrated on the front side. The control panel consists of a 1.44” OLED Display and several function buttons. The power button, however, is camouflaged in a slight grey bar. New users may find it’s hard to discover the button.
What Canon PIXMA TS5320 Offers
The Canon PIXMA TS5320 is wireless all in one printer specifically made to meet the demand of families who need to print, copy, or scan with ease. To do these jobs, this device is supported by a variety of features. Let me take you closer to the TS5320.
1. Printing capability
This inkjet printer is supported by Canon FINE inkjet technology, combined with 1792 nozzle configuration to ensure output quality. Its print resolution up to 4800 x 1200 dpi allows you to enjoy detailed and crisp print results.
The TS5320 supports simplex and duplex printing, thanks to auto-duplexer which makes your printing tasks much easier. It also enables you to print borderless photos up to letter size, unlike the Canon PIXMA TS3320 that stops at 5 x 7 inches. This printer also supports Instagram media format at 3.5 x 5 inches.
Aside from printing, the PIXMA TS5320 enables you to copy documents with various image quality ranging from draft to high quality. This versatile printer supports up to 99 copies with a lot of features, such as duplex copy, 2-on-1 copy, fit to page, reduction/enlargement, and auto exposure.
Meanwhile, for scanning, you can enjoy scanning resolution up to 1200 x 2400 dpi with the CIS method. Simply use the flatbed on the top of the device and you can save physical documents to your computer. This scanner features wireless scanning, document removal reminder, and even Scan to Canon Print.
2. Document and media handling
The TS5320 features a front tray and rear tray, allowing the printer to hold more sheets. The 100-sheet front tray combined with a 100-sheet rear tray is more than enough for the home environment. The rear tray is also able to hold up to 20 sheets of letter-size photo paper.
This machine can handle a wide array of media, such as plain paper, photo paper, photo paper glossy, magnetic paper, matte photo paper, magnetic photo paper, and greeting cards. Printing homework, college paper, presentation, or creative project is much easier with this device. When it comes to paper size, the PIXMA TS5320 works well for 3.5 inches x 3.5 inches all the way to legal size.
3. Print speed
Are you looking for a good printer with fast print speed? The TS5320 can be a good bet to take into account. This printing machine manages to print up to 13 pages per minute for mono simplex, which is twice the TS3320. The speed reduces to 6.8 images per minute for color simplex printing.
But this photo printer is rather slow when it comes to photo printing. For a 4” x 6” borderless photo, it needs about 43 seconds. The speed is getting slower for larger photos. Though its speed is not excellent, the TS5320 is not the worst.
Better-Looking Print Output
Canon PIXMA always manages to deliver high-quality printing and the TS5320 is no exception. This inkjet photo printer gives excellent output for texts, graphics, and photos. It delivers well-shaped and highly legible texts with sharp darkness. I also found this printer is able to show delineated graphs and charts. This capability is more than appropriate for kids’ homework.
If you love to print photos, this printer is specifically made to meet your demands. The TS5320 is specialized for photos and it is capable of giving accurate, bright, vivid, impressive detail and well-saturated color. Despite the quality being incomparable to six-ink printers, the TS5320 is an excellent photo printer with affordable price.
Canon PIXMA TS5320 Ink Cartridges & Expensive Cost per Page
The TS5320 uses standard ink cartridges consisting of a black and a tri-color cartridge. For the black ink, PG-260 is chosen to accompany the CL-261 for color ink. The volume of standard PG-260 black is 7.5 ml, while its High Yield comes with 14.3 ml. Meanwhile, the CL-261 color has 8.3 ml for standard and 12.2 ml for High Yield.
Canon features ChromaLife100 System that helps protect your photos to make it last longer. This feature boasts 100 years of album life or 30 years when you put the photos behind the glass.
How about the print costs? As I told in other reviews, standard ink cartridges mean expensive cost per page. The TS5320 is no exception as it costs approximately 7 cents per page for monochrome print. For the color page, the cost is doubled to 15 cents. Compared to printers with mega-tank, traditional ink cartridges are less suitable for frequent printing.
Connectivity and Software
The PIXMA TS5320 comes with standard connectivity that includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB 2.0. It also features PictBridge Wireless that enables you to print directly from compatible Canon cameras. This printing machine also supports mobile connectivity, such as Apple AirPrint, Mopria, Google Cloud Print, and Canon Print App.

If you want to enjoy a better printing experience, some mobile apps are supported. Let’s mention the Canon PRINT app, Easy Photo Print Editor, and Message In Print app.
As with other printers manufactured over the last few years, the TS5320 comes with automation support and smart assistant. You can enjoy voice-activation to print or scan documents. Thanks to Amazon’s Alexa or Google Assistant to make your printing experience more engaging. This printer also supports other platforms for voice services, including Microsoft’s Cortana and Apple’s Siri.
Canon PIXMA TS5320 Pros and Cons
The Canon PIXMA TS5320 works well to help your everyday printing, copying, or scanning tasks. The inkjet photo printer is designed to deliver excellent output quality and convenience. In spite of the ease-of-use features, this printer is not flawless. I am going to reveal the strength and weaknesses to help you decide if this printer is good for you.
Canon PIXMA TS5320 Pros
- Excellent print quality
The TS5320 is a reliable machine to print your homework, college paper, presentation slides, or creative projects. It boasts excellent print quality, both for texts, graphics, and photos. Especially for photos, you can enjoy vivid, crisp, and detail output for family photos or other collections right from this low-budget printer. Personally, I always love how Canon makes consumers stay through high-quality printing.
- Auto duplexer
The PIXMA TS5320 looks outstanding when compared to other printers in its class, thanks to auto-duplexer that enables 2-sided printing and copying. Unlike the TS3320 that lacks this feature, the TS5320 offers convenience to handle your duplex documents.
- Generous tray capacity
This printer is designed for families to help them with everyday printing tasks. But the generous paper tray capacity makes it a suitable choice even for small businesses. It features a front cassette and rear tray that allows the printer to hold up to 200 sheets of plain paper. This volume is more than enough for occasional up to moderate printing and copying.
- Smart assistant
The inkjet photo printer is equipped with a smart assistant and voice activation to upgrade your experience. Canon embedded Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant to help activate and print your documents. If you want to try other platforms, such as Siri and Cortana, this printer can handle it.
Canon PIXMA TS5320 Cons
- Expensive cost per page
Printers with traditional ink cartridges share the same weaknesses—expensive print cost. The PIXMA TS5320 is no exception as it spends approximately 7 cents per monochrome page and 15 cents per color page. This rate is slightly higher than its competitors, Brother MFC-J497DW and Epson XP6100. It is relatively safe but is still expensive when compared to printers with Mega Tank.
If you are going to print or copy frequently, this printer potentially breaks your savings. But if you print occasionally, the running cost may be tolerable.
- Slow photo printing
Despite the TS5320 being specially designed as a photo printer, its photo printing performance is far from impressive. The ability to print 4” x 6” borderless photo is rather sluggish, as slow as 43 seconds. However, its passable print speed for monochrome and color documents can save its reputation. This printer manages to print up to 13 ppm for mono and 6.8 ppm for color.
Final Thought
The Canon PIXMA TS5320 is a family printer with a wide array of features and capabilities. This wireless all in one inkjet printer works well to handle your everyday printing, copying, and scanning. It lets you enjoy advanced technology through smart assistant and voice activation. The excellent output quality also becomes another reason why this printer is worth the thought.
However, it is not a flawless device you can purchase. If you are looking for a versatile printer for the home environment, the TS5320 can be a good name to mention. But if you plan to print quite often, this machine may empty your purse due to the expensive cost per page.
